Terms of Use
The short version
- EchoIt is free. It is a beta: it can have bugs, and rarely a message can be lost or late. Don't rely on it for emergencies.
- You must be 13 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
- What you send is yours, and you are responsible for it. Don't use EchoIt to hurt anyone or break the law.
- Names in EchoIt aren't checked. Be careful who you trust, and never send money because of a message alone. We are not responsible for what other people send or do.
- We can't see your messages, so we can't check them, recover them or take them back.
- Keep your recovery phrase safe. If you lose your device and the phrase, nobody can get your identity back.
- The app's code isn't public: don't copy, change, repackage or sell it.
- EchoIt comes as it is, without guarantees. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses from using it, and the most we would ever owe is ₹1,000. If your misuse leads to a claim against us, you cover our costs.
- If something goes wrong, write to us first; we reply within 15 days. After that, Indian law and the courts of Varanasi apply. Our Privacy Policy says what EchoIt does with your information.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms are between you and Parth Sarthi Mishra, the developer of EchoIt ("we", "us"). By tapping I agree in EchoIt, or by using EchoIt, you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you don't accept them, please don't use EchoIt.
2. EchoIt is a beta
Every version before 1.0.0 is a test version, shared so that people can try EchoIt and tell us what goes wrong. That means:
- It can have bugs. In rare cases a message can be lost, or arrive late.
- Messages arrive while EchoIt is in use on your phone; otherwise the next time both phones are.
- Features can change or be removed between versions.
- Don't rely on EchoIt for emergencies, or for anything where a missed or late message could cause harm. It cannot contact emergency services.
3. Who can use EchoIt
You must be at least 13 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
4. Your identity and your device
- Your identity is created on your device and has no account behind it. Your twelve-word recovery phrase is the only way to bring it back on a new device.
- We never see your recovery phrase and cannot reset it. If you lose your device and the phrase, that identity is gone, and so is your history.
- Your history is only on your device. Losing the device, resetting EchoIt or uninstalling it removes it.
- Anyone who has your unlocked device can open EchoIt. Keeping your device locked is up to you.
5. What you send
- It is yours. We claim no rights to anything you send or receive.
- You are responsible for it. Only send things you have the right to share.
- What you send is delivered to the other person's device, and it is theirs to keep. Deleting it on your device does not delete it on theirs.
6. The people you talk to
- Names in EchoIt are not checked. Anyone can call themselves anything. Make sure you know who you are talking to before you share private information, send money, or act on what they say.
- The people you talk to are responsible for what they send and do. We are not responsible for scams, fraud, threats or any other harm caused by someone you talk to, on EchoIt or anywhere else.
- If you are in danger or have been defrauded, contact the police or your local authorities.
7. Things you must not do
Don't use EchoIt to:
- break the law, or help someone else break it
- cheat or defraud anyone, or pretend to be someone you are not in order to deceive them
- harass, threaten, stalk or abuse anyone
- share sexual material involving children, or anything that exploits a child
- send spam, scams or harmful software
- share things that infringe someone else's copyright or other rights
- attack, overload or interfere with the connection helper, the people using it, or EchoIt itself
We cannot see what anyone sends, so we cannot check messages or remove them. If someone bothers you, you can block or remove them in the app. Number 0, who run the connection helper, may block devices that abuse it.
8. Using the app
- EchoIt is free to download and use.
- We give you permission to install and use EchoIt on your own devices, and to share the official download link with anyone.
- EchoIt's source code is not public. Please don't copy, change, repackage or sell the app, or share changed copies of it. The MIT licence in EchoIt's public repository covers this website's own code only, not the EchoIt app.
- Only download EchoIt from this website or its release page. Copies from anywhere else may have been changed, and we are not responsible for them.
9. The services EchoIt relies on
- The connection helper and the address directory are run by Number 0 — except that until mid-November 2026 EchoIt uses a helper of ours, as the Privacy Policy explains. They introduce devices and pass sealed messages along when needed. We don't control them: they can be slow, go down or change. You can use your own helper instead, in Settings.
- Update checks and downloads go to GitHub.
- These are other companies' services, their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for what they do.
10. Updates
EchoIt checks for new versions once a day unless you turn that off, and installing one is your choice. We may stop supporting old versions. A very old version may stop working with newer ones.
11. No guarantees
We build EchoIt carefully and test it on real devices, but we provide it as it is and as available, without guarantees of any kind — including that it will always work, deliver every message, keep your data safe from every risk, or be free of mistakes. Some laws don't allow these limits; where they don't, they apply only as far as the law allows.
12. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss that comes from using EchoIt, or from not being able to use it — including lost messages, lost files, a lost identity, lost money or business, or the actions of the people you talk to. EchoIt is free, and if we are ever held responsible for anything, the most we will owe, in total, is ₹1,000. Nothing here limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for our own fraud.
13. If your use leads to a claim against us
If someone makes a claim against us because of something you sent, or something you did with EchoIt that breaks these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal costs, as far as the law allows.
14. Stopping
You can stop using EchoIt at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop developing EchoIt; if we do, we will say so on this website first.
15. Complaints, including about copyright
Write to wforsarthi@gmail.com. We don't host anything you send, so we can't remove it from anyone's device. If something on this website or on EchoIt's release page infringes your rights, include a link to it and an explanation, and we will look into it.
16. If something goes wrong between us
Please write to us first, at wforsarthi@gmail.com, and tell us what happened. We will reply within 15 days and try to sort it out with you. Most problems end there.
If they don't, these terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh — unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your own courts.
17. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will publish the new version here with a new date. If the change matters to you, EchoIt will show it the next time you open the app and ask you to accept it again. If you don't accept, you can stop using EchoIt.
18. The small print, in plain words
- If a court decides that part of these terms doesn't count, the rest still applies.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about EchoIt.
- If we don't act on a breach of these terms straight away, we can still act on it later.
- We may pass these terms, and the running of EchoIt, to a company we set up for it. Your rights under them stay the same.
